Security Planning at Schiphol Airport

2026Senior Product DesignerWeb / PowerBI

  • Built tooling that helps Schiphol prepare for a major operational security transition
  • Replaced many Excel sheets and enabled planners and analysts to track trends in PowerBI
  • Created planning dashboards that made the gap between planned and realized security hours actionable

I worked on dashboards that made capacity and realization of security hours transparent and comparable. Planners can now look ahead and analysts report historically, tracking and spotting issues before they become problems.

New security companies will start operating at Schiphol, a significant change that puts new demands on how capacity is planned and monitored. The planning department needed clear insights into security hours, agents, budget trends and the gap between what was planned and what actually happened.

Security Operations at Schiphol Airport

2025Senior Product DesignerWeb / PowerBI

  • Introduced design practice within the team, establishing a structured way of product development
  • Designed dashboards covering waiting times, agent productivity and asset incidents across multiple security disciplines
  • Surfaced the connections between data points, helping teams move from reporting to root cause analysis

I joined as the first designer on the team. There was no design process, no templates, no foundation. Together with the PM, analysts and developers, I helped build that from scratch.

Schiphol is one of Europe's busiest airports, running a security operation that touches hundreds of thousands of passengers every week.

The security department has data, KPIs, and targets. But the data wasn't at the core of how people worked.

Fulfillment by Bol

2024Product DesignerWeb

  • Uncovered the core trust issues driving seller frustration: inventory discrepancies between Bol's platform and sellers' own systems
  • Shaped the product roadmap for improved stock visibility and product health reporting
  • Delivered the first designs for upcoming iterations, giving the internal team a clear foundation to build from

I led a three-month discovery project: interviewing sellers, mapping the problem space and shaping the roadmap. Sellers couldn't see whether their stock had arrived correctly, where it was in the process, or how their products were performing.

Bol is the largest e-commerce platform in the Netherlands and Belgium, used by millions of shoppers and tens of thousands of independent sellers.

Through their Fulfillment by Bol service, sellers can ship their inventory directly to Bol's warehouses and let Bol handle delivery.

Shell Trading Platform

2023 - 2024Product DesignerWeb

  • Designed dashboards that unified supply chain, specification, cost and refinery data into a single coherent view
  • Translated highly complex domain knowledge into interfaces usable by both analysts and traders
  • Helped the team develop a shared understanding of the domain through close collaboration and research

I worked on a suite of dashboards that gave traders and analysts a complete picture of the supply chain. From the origin of crude oil, what specifications it carried, the costs to ship it to a refinery, and what that refinery could produce from it.

The data was very complex, spanning chemistry, logistics and financials. Getting into the domain (including the chemistry behind refinery outputs) was one of the most interesting challenges I've worked on.

Shell is one of the world's largest energy companies, operating a global trading division that moves crude oil and energy products across markets and refineries every day.

The decisions made by analysts and traders in that environment are high-stakes, fast-moving and depend on having the right data at the right moment.

Shell Design System

2024Product DesignerWeb

  • Built the foundation for an enterprise design system adopted across Shell's broader product ecosystem
  • Delivered Figma and React components with WCAG AA accessibility compliance built in
  • Established a color system that enforced brand and accessibility standards by design, reducing errors across teams

We started building the Shell Design System, a proper enterprise-grade foundation, focused on dashboard development.

It grew into something significant enough that Shell formed a dedicated team to own and evolve it.

Shell had multiple fragmented design systems at different stages of maturity. None of them gave us what we actually needed to move fast and build consistently.

I want to design products that are built to last. Let’s create something together.
